Hello! I am Sarah. I have been a small animal vet for 20 years. I work part time at a vet practice in Sussex, have a small farm with my husband and two children.
I have set up Pets2France to provide affordable Animal Health Certificates (AHC) for owners in Sussex wishing to take their pets to France and onward countries on holiday.
Pet Passports
Pet Passports were scrapped when the UK left the EU. They have been replaced by AHC’s which are a 9 page document that must be completed by an Official Veterinarian (OV). They are strictly for the non-commercial movement of up to 5 pets (cats, dogs, ferrets). The AHC is valid for 4 months of onward travel. Once returned to the UK, a new AHC will be required for the pet to leave the UK again, even if within the 4 months.
There are steps that have to be taken before an AHC can be completed.
The pet must be microchipped, have an up to date rabies vaccine (given at > 12 weeks of age) then wait 21 days before the AHC can be issued. The OV must check the pet’s microchip before issuing the AHC. I will also perform a general health exam of your pet to check they are well to travel. This is not a requirement by law but will give owners peace of mind.
The AHC must be issued within 10 days of travel. And remember, dogs must be tape wormed 1-5 days before returning to the UK. This has to be given by a vet and part of the AHC filled in.
I charge £150 for an AHC for one pet. Additional pets are £40 each.
Location
I am based near Lewes, East Sussex and will require you to bring your pet to me with the relevant documents required. There is a form to be pre filled on the website plus images of supporting documents to be uploaded. Payment will be organised when your appointment is made.
Appointment slots are available between 11am and 3pm Mondays and Tuesdays and 11am- 1pm Wednesdays and Thursdays. If these slots are not convenient, please specify in your email what would suit you best and I will try to accommodate you.
